Operational
Optimisation

Logistics, maintenance planning, and procurement support for Southern African mining operations that need to do more with less.

§ Service · Operational Optimisation

In depth.
In the field.

  • Maintenance planning
  • Procurement engineering
  • Logistics optimisation
  • KPI + downtime audit

Optimine brings deep mining operations experience to optimisation engagements — reviewing maintenance, procurement, and logistics chains end-to-end. The deliverable is not a slide deck. It is reduced downtime, practical contract terms, and a maintenance regime your site teams can actually run.

Typical engagements last 8–16 weeks and run alongside the site's own production schedule. Optimine works as an embedded review team, then hands over with written manuals and supplier contacts.

This service is independent of Optimine's drilling work — clients engage either standalone.

Programme flow

How a operational optimisation
programme runs.

  1. Step 01

    Site audit & KPI baseline

Two-week walk-down. Downtime register, MTBF/MTTR, spares turnover, procurement lead times benchmarked.

  2. Step 02

    Bottleneck mapping

Pareto of downtime causes. Distinguish chronic vs acute. Quantify production lost per cause.

  3. Step 03

    Maintenance schedule rebuild

Preventative maintenance plan redrawn against OEM intervals and actual failure data.

  4. Step 04

    Procurement contract review

Spares + consumables contracts reviewed for lead time, pricing, and stocking commitments. Renegotiation support where useful.

  5. Step 05

    Logistics chain audit

Supply route audit — port to site — for fuel, drilling fluids, spares. Inventory staging recommended.

  6. Step 06

    Handover

Written maintenance manual, supplier contacts, KPI dashboard spec, and on-site coaching with the maintenance lead.

Common questions

Asked by
our clients.

How long does an engagement take?
Typical scope is 8–16 weeks depending on site size and the depth of the procurement review.
Do you stay on for implementation?
Optional. Most clients implement with their own team after handover; coaching retainers are available.
Is this only for drilling operations?
No — the methodology applies to any heavy-equipment operation: drilling, load-and-haul, plant maintenance.
